Let's talk .. social!

We are already in a social media platform (LeoFinance) so I am sure you know what we are talking about :)

Why are we here? I am sure that everyone of us has their own reasons, they can vary from .. getting social, meet new people, enjoy my time, express myself while at the same time earn a little bit (remember that we are at a blockchain based social media - that we can monetize every social action of ours!)

There are so many different social media channels, so how do we choose which one to join? How do we choose where to give our time?

This is something that we will discuss a lot in the future, this time I will let you know shortly about my journey with Instagram.

2010 (more or less)

I was very young back then (don't ask me how old :P)

The facebook etc were sooo popular among my friends and acquaintances - They would be posting photos of theirs, where they were, what they were doing etc etc..

I hated anything that had to do with social media. I did not wish to become a part of it.

But I realized that .. if people like it, if people are joining it ... then of course .. BUSINESSES should be join, right?

A business should be where their customer is

So I was working at a hotel back then and I was the first one to create a Facebook page for the hotel.
(It was the first in the city & in the island I think)

2013-2014

It was approximately 4 years since Instagram had been launched. In 2014, it already have a little bit less than 200 million users and I was very impressed by its dynamic, by the fact that your photo could ... literally be in someone's hand and of course I saw it business wise - I then asked my boss to create an Instagram account for his business.

To keep the story short, he said "Sure, but please do it at your spare time"

So I did.
I also created an account for myself - but just to see who this whole thing works!

This was my first ever post on a social media platform.

2014-2018

I spent a lot of time learning about social media, watched seminars, trying out several platforms and doing my best to grow my bosses' businesses.

And then a little voice in my head came to remind me that ...

"Why not grow yourself and your own business?"

So that is what I decided. I thought it over and came up with a few ideas. Not everything has worked out, but everything came with a valuable lesson for me.

At the end of 2018 I discovered blockchain and this is when a very important idea was born. To create an account for my city. I did, I gave my city a character, I started first of all learning about it and at the same time discussing and posting about it in social media.

@aboutheraklion was born

2020

At the moment, I am still building it - I am still working on it (in my spare time, lol)
It has a website, social media accounts and above all, a lovely community and friends all over the world

From all the social media platforms, I say that Instagram is my more visited, more powerful and strongest.

Why?

Because I devoted time into learning how it works, into creating something real, genuine and authentic.

I will take you later in the journey of how I reached this number of friends. I am sure that you know that for Instagram, a very important benchmark is 10K followers ..

So, having specific and measurable goals helps a lot into achieving anything you aim for.

At the moment there are many accounts out there with hundreds of thousands of followers, almost all of them started out early and made the best out of this means of communication.

I understood the capabilities but my efforts' results were enjoyed by others. My hours of work had no results for me, but only for my (at the time) bosses.

So, until my next post - I have some questions for you :)
