Opencart Greek Translation Part 1

And again, another Sunday brings me before you, presenting my translation to the block chain users that are interested in and reading translation related posts : )

After my swarmops farewell post here (snifff) for which I hope to return one day soon, there were a lot going on, both in my life and also on steem (see HF20!). Therefore, it took me a good 14 days to return to my duties!

This time, after @dimitrisp suggestion, I have started translating the world renown FREE & open-source e-commerce platform opencart

So, without further due, allow me to wish you Happy Sunday and lets find out more about this project!

Details

Source language: English, United Kingdom

The above are its details from crowdin link

Language

The source of the project was in English and I translated it in Greek (my native language)

Word Count

The words to be translated are in total 50.599.
However opencart is already translated by 49% in Greek. The problem is that there have been too many people translating, which results to a variety of differences of interpretation / words selected for specific actions. This, along with some syntax / typos / grammatical errors found, can confuse the end user.

I will do my best, with the help of the experienced @dimitrisp, to provide the most accurate translation for opencart.

According to the activity report, I have translated a total of 843 words. However, there were duplicates and some words that I edited, so I am subtracting 15% which brings a total approximately of 716 words.

Some Examples of what I dealt with : )

1st example

opencart2.jpg

Apart from the typo (μεταφορτόσεων) instead of μεταφορτώσεων, the whole sentence needed a revamp! In a software that we will use the word 'download' and 'upload' a million times, we should decide right from the beginning which correspondent Greek words will be used.

This way, the users will not be confused.

We have decided to use download = λήψη & upload = μεταφόρτωση

2nd example

open3.jpg

This is one of the suggested translations for the English

  • Attribute Group Required!

Apart from the 2 eye-catching errors, the whole sentence is wrong!

2 more wrong sentences were proposed + the previous

  • Ομάδα χαρακτηριστικών που απαιτούνται!
  • Ομάδα χαρακτηριστικών απαραίτητο! (!!!)
  • Ομάδα χαρακτηριστικών χριαζετε! (πού είναι ο τόνος, που είναι η ορθογραφία;)

  • Απαιτείται Ομάδα Χαρακτηριστικών! was the one proposed by me / confirmed by our Language Manager

A Tip & A Re-Discovery

What I re-discovered (because I kind of forgot) with the help of Dimitris, is the use of the 'Terms' in crowdin.

What does it do?

When a word / sentence is included in Terms, it appears underlined PLUS the best part is that if you click it, it automatically writes the translation to you!

Let's see an example!

You see a world (in this example) Dashboard that in Greek will be translated as Πίνακας Ελέγχου
We click on 'terms' tab (on the right part of the screen)
We click on the plus (+) sign
We write the word dashboard, we can include an explanation if we wish and right at the bottom, you see a field for the 'greek' translation.
After you add it, you will see the word dashboard underlined. If you hover the mouse, you see the translation and if you click on it, it is automatically parsed in the translation field!

p.s. I am trying to upload a video (If I make it, I will edit this post with the video)

A little extra

There was also a small translation of some extra words (214) I did for warriorjs.
