Some words about Rock Balancing and my effort #2 + #3
Just a couple of days ago, I discovered by accident the joy of balancing rocks while being at a seascape and being bored :)
What I could not have imagined is how popular this art is and also how long in the past it exists.
Cairns - Rock Stacking exists since prehistoric times
Apparently creating cairns goes way back, to prehistoric times serving as landmarks or burial monuments. As per this article some of these stones stacks were built for ceremonial, hunting or even astrological purposes.
One of many cairns marking British mass graves at the site of the Battle of Isandlwana (1879), South Africa

Are there any dangers by performing this art/craft/hobby?
Something that is not widely known, the art of rock stacking it could cause problems to the ecosystems or to hikers if not used properly (but I will go through it on a next post)
(If you are too impatient, you can also read more here)
Conclusion, Should you do it?
I say yes, but with attention & respect to the environment. There are also a number of variations of this art that you can go through, all you need is time, fantasy and of course zest and inspiration!
Extra information and some historical sources of course at wikipedia

My effort number 3 with some more variations during daylight and amazing cloud formations
It was an amazing day and I just could not let it go by without going out in the sun. It was Sunday, after all...!!!!
This what I was doing and I have a confession to make.
Many times the rocks fell off, I did not manage to keep them standing and be very impressive
But forget not, it is only the beginning of it all..
Besides, this art is all about concentration, about meditation, about finding the proper spot and balance in that specific moment :)
More to come ... and please bear with me till the end of it all :)

And please remember
When you spend sometime at a place, at nature, you need to consider it as home.
Don't wait for someone to come and clean it for you, take the garbage if you can and dont expect acknowledgement. Just do it and trust me, you will feel a lot better afterwards :)
These and more, is what I took over to the recycling and to the garbage
Thanks so much for visiting and reading!
